What is the CleanAIR project?

Project title: "CleanAIR" – Cooperation for reducing the air and water pollution in urban and rural areas in Oradea and Békéscsaba

The CleanAIR project is being implemented within the framework of the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme, which, with the support of the European Union, promotes cross-border cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, social, and economic development.

The main goal of the project is to reduce air pollution in the cities of Oradea and Békéscsaba, to make the participating cities more liveable, and to increase the resilience of the urban environment to the challenges of climate change.

CleanAIR is not only an environmental initiative, but also
a joint step towards a cleaner, healthier and more liveable urban future.

Walking Forest – mobile green infrastructure

Research + community experience

The moving forest travels through the city, providing shade and fresh air while its impact is documented through measurements.

Use of carefully selected plants

Scientifically selected trees

We plant species that have been proven to filter the air and are resistant to urban environments.

Sustainable greening:
permanent tree planting

We plant in critical locations

At the end of the project, the trees will take root around schools, kindergartens, and playgrounds—where they are most needed.

Volunteering and community participation

You can help too!

The trees are moved by volunteers using special manual tools. You can also take part in community events and workshops.
